The Eldorado Animal Clinic Cancer And Palliative Care Center

dreisertLeslie K. Eisert, DVM has offered compassionate and skilled medical care for all her patients since 1995, when she received her DVM from Colorado State University. She has a special place in her heart for the geriatric dog and cat, and is committed to enhancing quality of life for pets with complex and chronic medical conditions. After completing a small animal internship at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital in New Jersey, the largest private animal hospital in the country, she received advanced residency training in medical oncology at the University of California at Davis.

She utilizes her training in cytology and ultrasonography to diagnose cancer in the most rapid and non-invasive manner for her patients, allowing a treatment plan to be developed as soon as possible. In working with the pet owner, important issues are discussed including a pet’s current quality of life, prognosis and expectations from the owner, possible treatment side effects, and cost of treatment and the client’s financial considerations. Treatment plans are carefully and individually tailored based upon these concerns.

Dr. Eisert works closely with board-certified specialists in the area to ensure the highest quality of care is available to each patient. When a medical cure is not possible, Dr. Eisert specializes in palliative comfort care, using her experience as a human hospice volunteer as a guide. Pain management, home visits, and end of life counseling are offered for all patients at the Eldorado Animal Clinic.
